Italian destroyers and torpedo boats departed for open sea according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 4 October 1911

An item reported that when the Italian destroyers and torpedo boats commanded by the Duke of Abruzzen (1) left the public enthusiastic reacted. Both Italian squadrons were wireless connected to each other. (2)

1. Prince Luigi Amedeo, Duke of the Abruzzi (29 January 1873 Madrid Spain-18 March 1933 Villaggio Duca degli Abruzzi, Italian Somaliland [Jowhar, Somalia]) as vice admiral Inspector of Torpedo Craft of the Royal Italian Navy between 1911-1912 and between 1914-1917 commander-in-chief of the fleet.

2. The Kingdom of Italy and the Ottoman Empire were in war between 29 September 1911-18 October 1912. Italy captured Ottoman Tripolitania Vilayet which became the Italian colonies Tripolitania and Cyrenaica afterwards emerged in Italian Libya.
