Japanese employing more activities in the Pacific according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 24 January 1942

An item reported that the Japanese naval forces in the Truk area seemed to have a larger operation area then earlier assumed namely attacks and landings between Borneo and New Guinea creating a continuous from Borneo eastward. Submarines copperating with aircraft were to defend Japan against surprise naval raids. In the meantime arrived convoys with reinforcements Luzon, Philippines and Malaya.
