Part of Mahan-class (18 completed) preceded by Porter-class succeeded by Gridley-class. Improved version of the Farragut-class. Laid down by United Dry Docks Inc., Staten Islands, New York, USA on 12 June 1934, launched on 15 October 1935, commissioned on 18 September 1936, after she was disbaled by a Japanese kamikaze aircraft at Ormoc Bay, Leyte, Philippines sunk by an American destroyer on 7 December 1944.
