An item reported that the American whaler Emerald captain Halleck of Sag Harbor entered the Arctic on 1 July not seeing whales till around 25 August off Cape Lisburne, she caught 4 whales. She left the East Cape on 26 September seeing a large number of whales on 14 September coming south out of the Arctic. The weather was whole September very stormy, if it had been better they could have caught 1,000 barrels oil.
