Japanese naval tactics during landing at Agoo, Philippines according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 30 December 1941

An item described the Japanese tactics in the latest landing at Agoo, Philippines. destroyers formed a line on a distance of 1,5 miles from the coastline, after this line were the transports in 2 groups positioned with an aircraft carrier between them and next a line of battleships or heavy cruisers on a distance of 3,5 miles after the destroyers line. Over a front of around 5 miles landed 50 barges each armed with 2-3 machine guns transporting around 150 military. The ships shelled the coast line supplying also anti aircraft fire with the carrier and earlier established airfields supplied the necessary air support.
