Portuguese motor sailing ships Milena and Florentina homeward bound in October 1942

In his letter No. 1932 dated 26 October 1942 referred the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin to the newspapers Primeiro de Janeiro, Porto dated 20 and 23 October and Diaro da Manhã, Lisbon dated 24 October 1942 reporting that the motor sailing ships Milena(1) and Florentina were expected to arrive next week at Aveiro.

1. Lloyds Register 1939-1940 mentioned a 4-mast ship Milena, call sign CSKS, ex-Burkeland renamed 1935/1936, gross tonnage 757 ton, under deck 664 ton, net tonnage 583 ton and as dimensions 180.5 x 35.7 x 16.4 feet. Homeport Aveiro. Owner Industria Avereinse de Pesca Ltda. Built by Bagdad S.B., Milton, Florida, USA in 1918. Fishing lugger lost in a gale on 2 September 1958.
