In his letter No. 1932 dated 26 October 1942 referred the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin to the newspapers Primeiro de Janeiro, Porto dated 20 and 23 October and Diaro da Manhã. Lisbon dated 24 October 1942 reporting that the Portuguese sailing ship Ilhavense in the evening of 22 October was positioned about 100 miles away from Aveiro.
