Portuguese sailing ship Neptuno arrived at Averiro in October 1942

In his letter No. 1932 dated 26 October 1942 referred the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin to the newspapers Primeiro de Janeiro, Porto dated 20 and 23 October and Diaro da Manhã, Lisbon dated 24 October 1942 reporting that the Portuguese sailing ship Neptuno arrived fully loaded at Aveiro on 23 October.(1)

1. Lloyds Register 1939-1940 vermeldt een Neptuno (ex-A. Simões Jr.. Neptuno, Victor), call sign CSHN, 244 gross tonnage, 231 tons tonnage below deck, net tonnage 171 tons and as dimensions 120.5 x 25.9 x 12.5 feet. Homeport Lissabon, Portugal. Built 1873/1926 by Mónica&Cie, Faganha (Avereiro) and owner Parceria Geral de Pescartias, managers Benauda&Co. www.homensenaviosdobacalhau.cm mentioned a Victor built by Manuel Antonio Rodrigues, Vila do Conde in 1873, renamed Mariana Primeira in 1886, Neptuno in 1889, rebuilt as Neptuno in 1927 and lost after she run agroubd on 16 October 1948. Grosss tonnage 243,30 ton, net tonnage 170,50 ton and dimensions 36,72 x 7,90 x 3,82 metres.
