An item reported that Arctic whalers were involved in walrus hunting killing each year around 50,000 animals. It was estimated that 75% was lost as a result by using inefficient projectiles. Off the Danish Greenland coast between 66-69 degrees North latitude were each year maximum 200 animals killed. Each animal delivered 20-30 gal. of much-esteemed oil.
