Brazilian passenger ships Bagé and Cuyabá painted in neutral colors and with national flag in October 1942

In his letter No. 1932 dated 26 October 1942 referred the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin to the newspaper Seculo, Lisbon dated 19 and 24 October 1942 reporting that on board of the Brazilian passenger steamships Bagé and Cuyabá lying at Lisbon was decided to paint the external parts of the decks white instead of the dark grey when Brazil entered the war. As the same time were on the sides the Brazilian national flag enlarged to make an identification on high sea easier. Both ships were to depart on 24 October.
