Part of Dido-class Bellona-sub-class preceded by Arethusa-class succeeded by Fiji-class and were designed to replaced the C- and D-classes cruisers. Laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Greenock, Scotland on 21 March 1940, launched on 30 May 1942, commissioned on 10 September 1943, part of reserve 1946-1956, loaned to the Royal New Zealand Navy 1956-1966, recommissioned in 1967, decommissioned and sold to be broken up in November 1967.
