German naval intelligence post established on Madagascar according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 February 1942

An item reported that according to Swiss deplomatic sources with permission of Darlan the Germans operated a naval intelligence observation post on Madagascar. The J.I.C. commented that Madagascar was of strategic importance for operating in the Indian Ocean and uncertain what Vichy France wanted.(1)
