Part of Mesudiye-class preceded by Iclaliye succeeded by Hamidiye. Sistership was the British HMS Superb. Laid down by Thames Ironworks, Blackwall, London, England in 1872, launched on 28 October 1874, commissioned in December 1875, reconstructed into a pre-dreadnought design at Genoa, Italy in late 1890s and sunk by the British submarine HMS B-11 at Nara where she was moored to protect the minefields blockading the Dardanelles on 13 December 1914
