Part of US Navy Auk-class preceded by Raven-class succeeded by USS Eagle. Laid down by Defoe Shipbuilding Co., Bay City, Michigan, USA in 1942, launched on 20 July 1942, commissioned on 9 November 1943, decommissioned on 15 May 1946, reclassified MSF-9 on 7 February 1955, purchased on 18 August 1966, decommissioned on 18 March 2003, stricken on 12 December 2003 and broken up in 2005. After she was used as a corvette converted in to an Antarctic supplier.
