Part of Atlanta-class Atlanta-subclass preceded by Brooklyn-class succeeded by Cleveland-class. Laid down by Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Kearny, New Jersey, USA on 27 May 1940, launched on 25 October 1941, commissioned on 14 February 1942 and torpedoed and sunk by the Japanese submarine I-26 during the Battle of Guadalcanal on 13 November 1942. Her wreck was on 17 March 2018 found back.
