Part of Balao-class diesel-electric submarines preceded by Gato-class succeded by Tench-class, laid down by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine, USA on 29 January 1944, launched on 26 April 1944, commissioned on 30 June 1944, decommissioned on 2 April 1963, stricken on 1 May 1963 and sunk as a target off Long Island on 4 August 1964.
2. The I-373 a Type D2 transport submarine. Laid down as Submarine No. 2962 by Yokosuka Navy Yard, Yokosuka, Japan on 15 August 1944, renamed I-373 on 5 October 1944, launched on 30 November 1944, completed and commissioned on 14 April 1945, converted into a tanker submarine. sunk on 14 August 1945 and stricken on 15 September 1945.
