British destroyer HMS Vega attacked with unknown results a German submarine south of the Needless on 3 December 1939

An item reported that in the morning of 3 December the British destroyer HMS Vega attacked a German submarine south of the Needless which tried to pass the Dover barrage. Early on 4 December was 4 miles north west of Cape Grisnez a heavy explosion heard probably dealing with the same submarine although without definitive proof like wreckage. Early on 7 December sighted Dutch fishermen 4 miles off Texel, Netherlands a damaged German submarine escorted by 2 destroyers. A plane sent to check this sighted nothing.
