Part of Forrest Sherman-class preceded by Mitscher-class succeeded by Farragut-class. Building ordered on 10 March 1951, laid down by Bath Iron Works on 27 October 1953, launched on 5 February 1955, commissioned on 9 November 1955, decommissioned on 5 November 1982, stricken on 27 July 1990 and sold to eb broken up on 15 December 2014.
