British cruiser HMS Spartan 1939-1944

Part of Dido-class Bellona-sub-class preceded by Arethusa-class succeeded by Fiji-class and were designed to replace the C- and D-classes cruisers. Laid down by Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, England on 21 December 1939, launched on 27 August 1942, commissioned on 23 July 1943 and sunk during a German air attack in the Anzio Bay, Italy on 29 January 1944.
