British destroyer visited Ponte Delgada, São Miguel, Azores in October 1941

In his letter No. 1519 dated Lisbon 29 October 1941 reported the German naval attaché in Portugal to the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine at Berlin the arrival of a British Type G destroyer at Ponte Delgada, São Miguel, Azores at 17:00 o’clock 26 October with on board a large number of heavy wounded men probably belonging to another warship of a merchant ship. The naval attaché believed that the men were wounded during a battle on 26 October near the Azores. The destroyer coming from Gibraltar would load supplies and to depart with dawn towards Gibraltar.
