An item reported that a German submarine patrolled the same week between Rattray Head and the Firt of Forth just like 3 others between the Shetlands and Norway. On 29 November was one submarine destroyed. On 7 December was estimated that one German submarine was lying in the western end of the British Channel, one off the coast off Norfolk and a third one west of Gibraltar. Intelligence mentioned the possible departure from Germany on 9 December of seven submarines. German submarines were reported laying mines oustide Norwegian territorial waters in the vicinity of Stadtlandet (latitude 52 degrees north).
