Japanese cargo ship Nitiran Maru 1938-1944

Sister ships Nissyo Maru and Nitiran Maru. Call sign JZUM. Ordered on 1 July 1936. Built by Mitsubishi Jukogyo K.K., Kobe, Japan in 1938 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Pianha off the Philippines on 12 July 1944. Gross tonnage 6,504 tons, netto tonnage 3,98 3tons, deadweight 8,820 tons and as dimensions 419.9 x 57.2 x 33.8 x 10.6 (light)-27.6 (loaded) feet. Steam turbines propulsion, single screw, horsepower 750 nhp, oil bunker capacity 1,716 tons, range 11,700 nautical miles/14 knots and speed 14 (normal cruising)-17 (maximum) knots.
