An item reported that the Romanian government possessed for service on the Danube the paddle steam warships Romania and Stefano cel Mare, the first one with 40, the latter 60 hp and armed with 4-4p Krupp breech-loading guns. The Stefano cel Mare was to be used as royal yacht. Further more was at Toulon, France a river monitor under construction which was to be disassembled and sent by rail to Galatz where she was to be assembled.
