Building of Dutch merchant ships Admiraal van Kinsbergen, Lucie, De Nijverheid, Oud-Nederland and Willem de Eerste according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 22 August 1838

At Schiedam was 18 August with success at the yard De Nijverheid by C. Gips en Zonen the frigate ship Willem de Eerste launched. Her master would be H. Poppen. Immediately afterwards was the keel laid down of the frigate ship Oud-Nederland of circa 600 lasten. Both ships were built on account of the Schiedamsche scheepsreederij. Also on account of J. Roelants en Comp. of Rotterdam was at this yard the keel laid down of the frigate ship Lucie. Her master would be D.J. Bulsing.

From Kampen arrived tidings that the sea worthy steamboat Admiraal van Kinsbergen of the Rhijn- en IJssel-stoomboot-Maatschappij completed 17 August a trial, going in 6,5 hours towards Amsterdam while returning in 6 hours. When the engine is completely installed the voyage would take less time as was hoped.
