The iron steamboat Zr. Ms. Hekla which was like earlier reported assembled at the navy yard at Surabaya was 24 December 1836 with success launched. Her medium draught was nearly 1½ British foot. It was suspected that her maximum draught when she was prepared for actual service included guns, rigging and crew would not exceed the 2 feet. This small iron paddle was ship was especially build as a pirate hunter.(1)
