Dutch whaler Visser sold at Amsterdam, Netherlands 16 October 1769

Sold on an auction Monday 16 October 1769 in the Nieuwezyds Heeren Logement at Amsterdam the whaler Visser. This extra ordinary seaworthy sailing fluyt ship had as master Ryk Dirks and was newly fitted out in 1752. Her dimensions were 110½ x 28’2”x 12’7”, the verdeck 6’9” and the S. 9’0” (?) in Amsterdam foot. Costs ƒ 8.000, with and adjudication of ƒ 700. N.A. van Hoorn on behalf of his master. Ryk Dirksz was a commandeur in the Greenland whale-fishery. He sailed in 1769 in service of Joachim Tyssen at Amsterdam. His results were 2 whales, 70 barrels whale-blubber and 11 quardelen train-oil.
