The yard Gusto of the firm A.F. Smulders at Schiedam, Netherlands was specialized in floating cranes and dredges of which several were built for foreign countries including France. Around 10 September 1931 was the steam crane Polypheme to be towed from Schiedam by the Dutch ocean going tug Groningen of Bureau Wijsmuller to her destination Le Havre, France. Strangely enough didn't report the local Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant nothing of the building and/or departure of this crane in contrary to other cranes.
