Swedish minelayer Älvsnabben M01 1943-1982
Laid down October 1942, launched at Eriksberg 19 January 1943, 1943 purchased as a freighter, refitting completed in April of the same year and finally decommissioned 30 June 1982 (stricken 1 July 1982) and finally broken up at Karlskrona. Also used as a cadet training vessel and during the Second World War as a depot ship for minesweepers and submarines. Dimensions 96,8-102,0 x 13,5 x 5,8 metres (334 2/3 x 44¼ x 16’) and a displacement of 4,250 tons. The Burmeister&Wain diesel supplied 3,000 hp allowing a speed of 14 knots. Her crew numbered 255-265 men. Her original armament was 4-16”guns, 8-40mm Bofors guns, 6-120mm guns, a number of depth charges and 380 mines.
