The Egyptian and the Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 16 August 1838

According to tidings from Constantinople dated 25 July published in the Austrian newspaper Beobachter left the Turkish fleet commanded by the Capudan Pasha the Dardanelles 19 July towards the Greek Archipelago. Via Trieste came tidings from Canea, Candia according to which the Egyptian fleet was 20 July in the Mediterranean and a squadron consisting of 2 ships of the line, 2 frigates and 2 corvettes already in the Gulf of Suda near Canea.
