The Porte decided to replace the British Armstrong guns placed on her battleships by the German Krupp guns. Further more was the building of 3 torpedo boats by a French firm ordered of which 2 of the 1st class armed with Nordenfeldt-guns and one of the 3rd class armed with common machineguns. The latter torpedo boat was especially mend for protecting harbours. It was common believed that the Porte decided to this equipments caused by the Greek naval program.
