Jan Blankendock at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands May 2007

Built by the engineer Jan Blanken in 1798-1822. Divided into two parts, one part directly connected by the harbour and closed by a bateau porte and used for repairing ships and one part divided by the first part by two watertight doors and used for new building. Originally was for dry pumping of the dock a James Watt steam engine used which was located in the pump house. This latter building was broken up in the sixties of the 20th century but rebuild in 2011. The iron bateau porte is dating of the 80’s of the 19th century and replaced the original wooden one. Hellevoetsluis was in the past a Dutch navy harbour.
