According to a tiding dated Shanghai 6 December attacked the loyal ships that morning the cruiser Chao Ho causing a damaged bow and fire breaking out on the bridge as a result of the gunshots. The leaders of the mutiny fled from board and escaped leaving behind 4 dead and 5 wounded. The cruiser was afterwards docked while her crew stayed on board. The officers had thrown the keys of the magazines over board when the mutineers arrived. The revolt on the shore also failed.
