The British, French, Greek and Russian navies in the Mediterranean according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 6 January 1830

A letter dated Triest 23 December 1829 supplied referring to what was called a reliable source the strength of the European navies in the Greek waters.
Off Egina were 2 British ships of the line and 2 cutters, 1 French ship of the line with on board admiral de Rigny and 2 brigs and 1 Russian ship of the line with a frigate, the latter recently heavily damaged during a storm.(1)
In the harbour of Poros were 15 Russian warships of different sizes anchored which were to return in the spring to the Baltic after the Greek affairs were solved (1).
At Vurla were 2 British ships of the line, 2 frigates and 2 brigs with at Corfu another 2 British ships of the line including a 3-decker. The latter two ships were destined fro Malta where a part of the British naval forces seemed to be assembled.
At Navarino were a French ship of the line and 2 frigates.
The Greek navy consisting of 1 frigate, 1 corvette and 7 brigs was anchored in the Gulf of Lepanto.

1. The Dutch newspaper Arnhemsche Courant dated 7 January confirmed this news item. The Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 3 April reported that according to tidings from Malta dated 15 March received in England the Russian fleet which arrived there some time earlier on 11 March departed destined towards the Baltic. It consisted of 5 ships of the line, 4 frigates and 4 corvettes. The Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 6 April published an item dated London 30 March. According to this item were letters from Malta dated 15 March received reporting that the Russian squadron commanded by admiral Lazaroff departed on 11 March and should arrive within 14 days at England. The squadron consisted of 5 ships of the line, 4 frigates and 3 or 4 corvettes which intended to stay until the end of May at Spithead and head towards the Baltic in June. This item was confirmed by the Dutch newspapers Overijsselsche Courant dated 9 April and Dagblad van ‘s-Gravenhage dated 5 April. The Middelburgsche Courant dated 11 May reported that on 1 May arrived the squadron coming from the Mediterranean at Deal and departed for the Baltic. It consisted of 4 ships of the line, 3 frigates, 1 corvette and 2 brigs.
