British Shell tanker Volute 1893-1930


IMO no. 1102789. Launched on 15 June  1893 at the yard of William Gray &Co. Ltd. at West Hartlepool (Sunderland) with yard number 451 and off. Number 102789 for M. Samuel &Co. at London, since 1898 of Shell Transport&Trading C.Ltd, (in fact the successor) at London, 1907 owwed by the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co. Ltd. At London, since 1920 depot ship at Bilbao and according to the website www.teesbuiltships.co.uk sold in 1926 to be broken up in Spain although the website www.helderline.nl said that she was sold in 1926 to Centra de Compras and in 1930 broken up. With a gross tonnage of 4,006 (www.teesbuiltships.co.uk) or 6,200 tons (helderline.nl.). With the dimensions 347.2 x 45.6 feet.
