The Dutch Zr.Ms. frigate Holland 1846-1873

Vermeulen didn’t give much information dealing with this frigate. On stocks at Amsterdam 1833 and launched 15 October 1845. Armed with 44 guns and a displacement of 1461 ton. She was stricken in 1873.

Jacob Swart supplies more information. According to him she was launched 16 October 1846 at the naval yard at Amsterdam. Dimensions 62.21 (loadline) x 11.91 (within beams) x 6.674m (on waist(deck). Her draught by launching was fore 2,71 and aft 4,34m and is suspected to be when fitted out fore 5,17 and aft 5,74m. The number of port-holes waistdeck is 26 in the battery, 4 in the bow, 3 in the aftbow (I suppose the stern). She was to be armed with 30-30 pdrs, 20-30pdr carronades and 2-12pdrs. Jacob Swart published 1 July 1865 a list of the Dutch navy, in which she was mentioned as a frigate of the 2nd class, armed with 44 guns, but indeed launched 1846!
