Lord Cochrane captured Spanish frigate Esmeralda according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 19 May 1821

London, 15 May. Lord Cochrane reported to his superior on board of the O’Higgins lying in the harbour of Amer 9 November that he with met armed boats captured after a severe battle the Spanish frigate Esmeralda. (1) Of his men were 15 killed and 50 wounded. Under his prisoners of war were the former commanding officer and the lieutenant of the frigate Prueba which were on board of the Esmeralda and 174 crew members. He also captured a gunboat with 14 men on board. Most of her crew sprung over board and was drowned.
