Norwegian navy disagreed with department of defence over budgets according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 30 June 1951
According to an item was on 29 June vice admiral Danielsen dismissed as commanding officer of the Norwegian navy and replaced by vice admiral Horve. Commodore Hovedenak chief of the naval staff was also dismissed. Both men stated earlier that the naval part in the defence budget was to small and if this was not changed they would ask for a dismissal. Their dismissal was the final result of a quarrel during months between the department of defence and the navy dealing with the defence budget and the naval part in it. The navy claimed that the department refused to see what the navy needed. The Norwegian parliament however supported the department in her decision.
