Part of the so-called Roofdier class frigates with as sister ships Wolf, Fret, Hermelijn, Vos and Jaguar with a displacement of 945 (loaded) tons and as dimensions 56,27 x 10,29 x 2,95 metres, a speed of 15 men, a crew of 65 men and armed with 1-7,6cm guns, 2-4cm guns, 2-2cm guns, hedgehog and depth chargers. Were used for coastal escort, coast guard and fishery patrol duties. Former PCE's of the US Navy in 1954 transferred to the Netherlands as a result of the Mutal Defence Assistance Program.
