An item dated Constantinople 17 May reported that the rumours of war could not be trusted anymore and since time was the calmness restored. Still wasn’t the fitting of the fleet not stopped but with all efforts continued and in the meantime were 31 ships completely fitted out and stationed in the Bosporus consisting of one 3-decker and another 7 ships of the line, 15 frigates and 18 brigs and corvettes. Within short time these ships were to be joined by another 3 ships of the line. The newspaper De Avondbode dated 18 June published an almost similar item dated Constantinople 17 May reporting that the frigates were of the 1st class and that except for the 3 ships of the line coming soon available at the yards of Ghumblich and Synope 2 ships of the line were build and a 120hp steamboat soon was to be completed.
