An item dated Berlin 3 October reported that the German cable ship Neptun (1) in the evening a day earlier a new submarine cable connection between Borkum and the Azores realized. The same evening arrived she at Fayal . Another Dutch newspaper Tilburgsche Courant dated 4 October confirmed this tiding. The Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 3 October published an item dated London 2 October reporting that the same day Fayal was reached and the laying down of a cable with a length of 1,900 successful completed. The cable was property of the Deutsch-Atlantische Gesellschaft of Berlin , Germany .
The Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland dated 15 August 1926 published an item dated Nordenham 14 August reporting that she left on 7 August for the first part of the cable traject between Borkum and the exit of the British Channel on behalf of the Deutsch Atlantische Telegraphengesellschaft Borkum-Azores and succeeded with success this project. The second part was to be laid down in September.
The Neptun visited Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1930. The newspaper Tilburgsche Courant dated 24 March published a photo of her during this visit. She belonged to the North German Cable Company although at that moment was she used as a tanker. The cable drives fore and aft were still visible.
