Norwegian brig Alfred wrecked at Scheveningen, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissings Weekblad dated 21 August 1869

An item dated Scheveningen 16 August reported that the crew and master Andreas Olsen of the stranded brig Alfred of Frederikshald was very pleased with their treatment.(1) That morning they departed for Amsterdam thanks to Mr. A.E. Maas, vice consul for Sweden and Norway. All efforts were done to unload the cargo of planks and it was hoped that all could be saved and sold next week. The cargo was assured by a Parisian company. The ship which aged more as fifty years was to sold soon.

The advertisement was published in the newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 26 august 1869. The Middelburgsche Courant dated 31 August reported that everything was bought by Mr. Van Zanten paying with the so-called ransom money 5.500,20 Dutch guilders,

1. The newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated Saturday 14 August reported that she was stranded on Thursday morning at 06.30 oclock before the commune bathhouse. The 8 crewmembers were saved and taken care of. Her master was Andreas Olsen, her owner M. Hansen and she was under from Fredrikshald, Norway with a cargo of planks towards Honfleur, France.
