In the begin of February arrived at Soerabaja the royal brigs Recruteur and Margaretha Louise commanded by captain lieutenant Hogerwaard and lieutenant Reuter. At Semang was a British prize the P.ij coming from Poelo ..ingang brough in. With a cargo of tea, tobacco, sails, iron and so on was her destination the Borarij bay. From Semang was she brought to Soerabaja. Lacking fresh water and contrary winds visited she the is1and Cellenboek North East of Sumanap where her captain and two sailors landed to search for water secretly followed by five natives. In the meantime went eight natives on board pretending to be merchants asking for arak and afterwards killing two men and taking the other crewmembers prisoner. The master and his two men were probably already murdered. Three pirate vessels arrived and which transferred partly the cargo to their holds. During worse weather went the brig under sail and arrived after some days at Legong for water where they were hold by the matamara’s of the deputy prefect and the bandhaar of Sumanap. When the harbourmaster was informed was the brig seized and declared government property.
