Turkish transports Aslam and Arilan wrecked according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 3 April 1901

An item reported that the Turkish transport Aslam was lost by Yembo taking with her around 20 men. The edition dated 26 April supplied different details. On 1 April was in the Red Sea the Turkish transport Arilan wrecked with on board 2,500 troops for Syrua and 300 pilgrims for Mecca. When she struck a rock some men jumped over board followed by others with as result that between the 180 and 200 were drowned. Those who stayed on board were saved after 48 hours with small boats coming from Yembo.
