An item reported that Bothe informed the parliament of South Africa that the transport Mendi with on board several South African workmen destined towards France collided in the mist underway from England to le Havre and sunk within 25 minutes. Ten Europeans and 615 natives drowned, 12 Europeans and 191 natives were saved.
