An item referred to the newspaper Maasbode which reported that experts concluded that it was not possible to transfer the ships of the Belgian navy via inland waters from Antwerp towards Zeebrugge. Their advice to the minister of foreign affairs was to ask permission of the Netherlands to pass the Schelde. The Maasbode however wrote however that this request for permission was ridiculous, Belgium had a right to use the Schelde and the common people would not accept that her cabinet would ask for it.
