Turkish naval program according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische courant dated 4 November 1938
An item dated Istanbul 3 November reported that the Turkish National Assembly was informed that the program for strengthening the navy was drawn up. According to the rumours ordered Turkey the building of three destroyers and four submarines at British shipyards and more orders were to be followed. The building costs were to paid via the credits of 16.000.000 pound sterling supplied by England to Turkey. Two submarines were expected to arrive soon from Germany while two others were built by a Turkish shipyard with German supervision and to be completed in next March.
