French torpedo boats No’s 61 and 83 collided according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 21 November 1896

An item reported the collision of the two French torpedo boats 61 and 83 off Cape Lachèvre during a range of manoeuvres. Both torpedo boats belonged to the defence of Brest. The torpedo boat 83 sunk causing the life of a stoker and the wounding of a sailor. The torpedo boat 61 was brought back by a tug and two other torpedo boats to the harbour of Brest.
