Danish navy in problems according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1932 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Tidsskrift for Soevaesen dated 18 March reporting that the new Danish National Defence law accepted by the Parliament in March caused a lot of comments. The Danish society of naval officers were unpleased while the law did not mentioned what the tasks of the navy were and secondly the lacking of enough ships to maintain the neutrality. The fleet would maximum consist of 9-300 ton torpedo boats and with a lifespan of 18 years, 1-900 ton minelayer with a lifespan of 2o years, 1 repair annex aircraft mother ship and so on. The annual new building budget was just 2.000.000 crones and with the lifespan of some ships on short notice ending was the planned naval strength mot earlier as in 1947 achieved. At that moment consisted the fleet of 3 aged torpedo boats and 5 aged submarines lacking a budget for replacing the coast defence ships. In this manner resulted the restrictions of the law in a fleet without artillery ships. The number of trained personnel was insufficient for instance caused by the obliged conscription with a yearly average of 90 days which was too short.
