Defence of Panama Canal insufficient according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1912-1913 no. 7

An item reported that the 35,6 [14”} guns for the defence of the Panama Canal were not earlier as at the end of 1913 available at the place where they should be made. The 40,6cm guns for the same defence were not earlier as over 2 years available so after the planned opening of the canal. The press was seriously blaming the government for this while none private firm would use his properties before taken precautions.
