Former Norwegian bananas transports Olaf Fostenes and Vibran destroyed according to the Dutch newspaper De courant dated 1 October 1942

An item reported that on 24 September 19 merchant ships of the Allies with a total gross register tonnage of 125.000 tons were destroyed. Among these ships were the former Norwegian modern bananas transports Olaf Fostenes (2.994 gross register tons of 1935) and the Vibran (2.993 gross register tons of 1936) former property of shipping companies of Haugesund. Totally loading capacity was 4.300 tons of fruit. Both ships were torpedoed and sunk underway east of Newfoundland from the USA towards England.
